Chelsea Flower Show 2016

The Chelsea Flower Show is as close to the "Oscars" or  the "Baftas" that horticulture gets!   The show gardens were cool, provacative, stylish and grand.  The Chelsea Flower Show has been organized by the Royal Horticultural Society ("the RHS") since 1912.  Previously, this event had its original start as the Royal Horticultural Society's Great Spring Show in 1862!

There were different sections and competitions of this large event, Show Gardens being the big award, Artisan and Fresh Gardens which are a little smaller.   The garden designs were wonderful,  but I did have a favorite because I loved the creative brilliance and drama of it by Martin Cook and Gary Breeze who won Best Fresh Garden for The Marble and Granite, “Antithesis of Sarcophagi” — a granite cube containing a woodland garden that can only be seen through peepholes   It was Martin who helped me take this pict thru the peephole.  Can you see the enclosed garden?

The Telegraph newspaper and media company is a large sponsor of the Chelsea Flower Show.  Here are the some links if you would like more information:  The Chelsea Flower Show 2016
