Wildflower Meadows of Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park

There's something about a meadow that makes you feel like you are sitting on a country hillside with the sun on your face, in the midst of soft grasses and wildflowers - even if you are in Central London and surrounded by some of the busiest streets of  the city.

It was realized in a study by a charity group called Plantlife (www.plantlife.org.uk), that wildflower meadows have declined by 97% since 1930.  So really the wildflower meadow is almost like a cool new type of "retro"?

Popular landscape trends and designs change, however I am happy to see today, that the "trends" are actually armed with current scientific knowledge of ecology.  Wildflower meadows provide a biodiversity that is highly effective for an ecologically healthy environment.  Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park are two of 8 royal parks but all the royal parks have adopted a wild flower meadow program of some type.
